Fundraising dinner - Paris, March 3, 2016

  • International

With more than 300 donors and partners in attendance, the 2nd edition of this fundraising evening was marked by a new feature: the presentation of the Stop Hunger "Youth Awards."

Three young students, ambassadors of group projects against hunger conducted in their schools, were selected and recognized for their commitment.

Each received a grant, half donated to the association they support and the other half to further developing their action or for launching another project.

The three winners were selected following a call for applications in over 1,500 primary and secondary schools in France with the support of the General Secretariat for Catholic Education.

As in 2015, Stop Hunger also honored the work of four Sodexo* employee volunteers and provided support to their four associations: Les Restos du Cœur, Les petits frères des Pauvres, Akamasoa in the Vendée region (western France), and l’épicerie solidaire Vivre Mieux in Torcy (Paris region). Each winner chooses the association to which they donate their award.

100% of the funds raised at the previous fundraising dinner went toward four Stop Hunger projects:

  1. Creation of an emergency fund to help victims of natural disasters, such as in Vanuatu, Nepal and Chennai (India).
  2. Support to five social entrepreneurs of the Ashoka global network whose projects seek to achieve in depth changes that reduce waste or improve food conditions.
  3. The creation of an urban community garden in Montreuil-sous-Bois (Paris region), in partnership with Les Restos du Cœur, which is conducting unique experiments in bioclimatic greenhouse growing.
  4. Support for the associations Restaurants Sans Frontières and Badao for the construction of a kitchen and the creation of a training school for careers in foodservices in the Special School of Brazzaville (Congo).
