Stop Hunger is launching the new global “Women Stop Hunger Award” to support innovative and measurable initiatives led by women.

5 reasons to empower women :

  1. Education: with a higher level of women's education, hunger could decrease by 43%.
  2. Family budget: when the mother manages the income of the family, a child has a 30% better chance of surviving.
  3. Meals: in many countries, the meal is prepared almost entirely by the mother, from growing the food to its preparation.
  4. Family farming: in developing countries, women represent 43% of the agricultural labor force and produce 60 to 80% of food resources.
  5. Parity: if women had the same access as men to productive resources, they could feed 100 to 150 million additional people.

Based on the figures, the conclusion is clear: by providing a better education, training, means of production and financial resources to women, we will increase our chances of eradicating hunger in the world by 2030!

Empowering women to feed the world is one of Stop Hunger’s solutions, with two directions for action:

  • Co-creation programs with local and international NGOs such as the World Food Programme
  • Support for innovative and measurable initiatives led by women and the awarding of the new "Women Stop Hunger Award" on March 8, 2017.

Applications are to be returned by October 16 to WomenStopHunger@stop-hunger.org
