Empowering Younger Generations

Young people play a crucial role in the fight against food insecurity by developing innovative and accessible solutions for the most vulnerable. Thanks to initiatives like those of Sharon, Charis, and Jack, we can contribute to building a more just and supportive future.

Sharon Monethi

The Woman of Age Foundation is an independent South African organization founded by Sharon Monethi, a passionate advocate for equality, social inclusion, and food justice.

The foundation is currently implementing a series of concrete initiatives aimed at marginalized communities. It focuses particularly on food security in schools, sustainable agriculture, women's entrepreneurship, and training young people for autonomy.

Its flagship project, HydroCoop, is an innovative agricultural model that combines an ecological chicken coop with a garden that can be cultivated on just 9 m², using minimal water and chemical fertilizers: a practical solution for small-scale food self-sufficiency.

Charis Halliday

On Remplit Le Frigo is an initiative dedicated to combating student food insecurity in France, born from a call for help posted on X (formerly Twitter) during the Covid crisis. Thanks to On Remplit Le Frigo's initiatives, nearly 2,500 food parcels have already been distributed across France, and the organization is preparing for its 100th distribution. The final beneficiaries of this collection are students facing food insecurity. Driven by unwavering determination, Charis sees her role not just as a social mission but as a lifelong commitment.

Jack Griffin

FoodFinder is a nonprofit organization that provides a website and mobile app to quickly locate food banks and meal distribution sites across all 50 states. Through interactive maps indicating locations, hours, and access conditions, FoodFinder has helped more than 600,000 people during and after the COVID-19 pandemic, and since its creation, over 3 million Americans have benefited from this essential support.Jack’s journey began when, at 15, he tried to volunteer at a food bank but couldn’t find one near him. This eye-opening experience, revealing the invisibility of available aid for those in desperate need, led him to fully dedicate himself to the fight against food insecurity.
